About

My name is Donny Joe and I’m a dart player from Houston, Texas.  I’ve been playing and competing in darts for over 20+ years.  During that time, I’ve had the good fortune to compete against many of the top players in the world.

In 2011, I acquired Monster Barrels Design and L-Style as sponsors.  Both companies are from Japan and their generous support enables me to focus on becoming the best that I can be and compete in this wonderful game that I love.  I am working with Monster to produce my new line of custom signature steel and soft tip darts that will be named, “Hades”.  The release date for my new Monster Hades darts is planned for early 2012.

I travel throughout North America to compete on the American Darts Organization (ADO) tournament circuit.  I’ve also played many of the top British and European dart professionals in the world in the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) tournaments.  Between 1998-2000, I gained international playing experience while living and working as an American ex-pat in England.  During that time, I competed in several British Darts Organization (BDO)/World Darts Federation (WDF) sanctioned tournaments in several countries in both the UK and in Europe.

Although steel tip is my primary passion, I play soft tip tournaments too.  Since 1992, I’ve competed in the Arachnid Bullshooter soft tip Regional and World Championship tournaments.  I am an Arachnid ’AA Pro’ player, which is their highest level of professional player classification.  Most recently, I’ve been traveling to Hong Kong to compete in the professional soft tip world championship series known as The World.

Outside of darts, my other passions include eating and growing hot peppers, savory foods, poker (No Limit Texas Hold’em, Pot Limit Omaha), and kayak fishing on the Texas gulf coast. In my younger days, I enjoyed successful careers as a tournament racquetball player and as a motocross racer.

I am the father of a wonderful teenage son named Brandon who shares my zest for life.  He always sets high goals for himself and he pursues those goals with a level of dedication and passion that inspires me and makes me very proud.

I have a Bachelors of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin.  I’ve worked in industry as an Information Technology (IT) professional and I’ve worked for large business consulting firms providing services to global energy clients.  My expertise lies in energy trading and risk management technologies, change management, processes and controls, and project management.  I am a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and I am also a non-practicing Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).

My professional background as an IT person and a business consultant influence the way I express myself in words and how I see things.  In my professional world, I deal with a wide band of subjects which span from strategic and visionary to tactical and detailed.  Thus, my writings on darts may range from somewhat abstract to highly technical.

    • Hello Blake,

It was nice meeting you in VA Beach. You make very cool dart shirts and I know that Flying Bull Dart Shirts will be a big success. Thanks for visiting my blog and for providing feedback.

  3. Hi Donny,

would you allow me to use your two blogs about dartslive for my site? It’s the best information I can find and I would like to translate it for the German version. Dartplayers here in Germany are interested in what is going on and your blogs would really be very helpful!!! Of course I would mentioned where I found it!!! :-)

  4. Donny, you are one impressive individual! We lived in England for four years – back in the early 90′s – and loved it. I was really fascinated by the skill of even the pub dart players. But they weren’t close to the skill you have. Great to connect with you, my friend. I’m following your blog now.

I want to hear from you. Leave a comment.
